This Month in Business: May 2026

by Ryan Egly

The month of May finally brought rain to Lawrence County.  While the weather slowed a few things down, it certainly didn’t stop the activity!  Between ribbon cuttings, business investments, tourism initiatives, and community events, it was a busy month gearing up for summer and a good reminder that there is a lot of positive work happening across our community.

Welcoming our newest Chamber members

We were proud to welcome several new members to the Chamber in May:

  • Thomas Towers Benefits, LLC
  • Blue Haven Formals
  • Hudson Valley Pumpkin Farm

Celebrating business growth and community investment

May gave us several opportunities to celebrate growth across Lawrence County.

We started the month with a ribbon cutting for Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance.  Their new Lawrenceburg location expands access to orthopaedic care, physical therapy, imaging, and orthopedic urgent care close to home.

A week later, we celebrated the opening of Hampton Inn by Hilton Lawrenceburg.  This beautiful new hotel is an important addition to our hospitality infrastructure and will help serve visitors, business travelers, and families coming to Lawrence County.

We also joined Jake’s Lettering & Graphics for a ribbon cutting, celebrated Lendmark Financial Services with a ribbon cutting, and attended the first birthday celebration for the Downtown Children’s Museum.  It has been exciting to watch that space grow and see the impact it is already having on children and families.

Friends of Lawrence County Animals also hosted an open house at the Lawrence County Animal Shelter during National Pet Month.  Their volunteers, along with shelter staff, continue to do important work supporting adoption, fostering, and animal welfare across our community.

Golf, networking, and partnerships

May also brought the 35th Annual Chamber Golf Tournament at the Lawrenceburg Golf and Country Club.  This event remains one of our largest networking opportunities of the year, and it was great to see so many teams, sponsors, volunteers, and Chamber Ambassadors come together.

A special thank you goes to Evers Construction Company, our Presenting Sponsor, along with every hole sponsor, course sponsor, team, and volunteer who helped make this year’s tournament a success.

Economic development momentum continues

On the economic development front, we were proud to celebrate an expansion announcement from Old South Wood Preserving in Summertown.

The company announced plans to invest $1.3 million and create 20 new jobs, marking its first expansion since opening in Lawrence County in 2021.  Following this announcement, Old South Wood Preserving’s local headcount is expected to reach approximately 60 employees.

Reinvestment is one of the clearest signs of a healthy local economy.  Companies expand where they are finding success, and we are grateful to see another existing industry choose to grow in Lawrence County.

Beyond this announcement, we continue to support existing industry growth and work active recruitment projects.  Much of that work stays confidential until companies are ready to make decisions, but the level of activity remains encouraging.

Taking Lawrence County’s story on the road

In May, a local delegation traveled to Washington, D.C. for the 2026 Lawrence County D.C. Fly-In.  The Chamber leads this trip every two years to connect local leaders directly with Tennessee’s congressional delegation, federal agencies, and national partners.

This year’s conversations focused on infrastructure, economic development, workforce, grant opportunities, and other priorities affecting Lawrence County.  While we had a few specific projects and updates to provide, federal advocacy all about being present, telling our story, and building the relationships that help our community compete.

Levitt AMP Concert Series begins

One of the highlights of May was the start of the 2026 Levitt AMP Lawrenceburg Music Series at Veterans Park.  Running from May through September, the series will bring 10 free concerts and nationally touring artists to Lawrenceburg while creating opportunities for residents and visitors alike to gather and enjoy our community.

Projects like Levitt are about community.  They activate public spaces, support local businesses, attract visitors, and create experiences that enhance quality of life for local families.  On any given concert night, you’ll find neighbors reconnecting, children playing, visitors exploring Lawrenceburg, and local vendors serving customers.

Tourism development is often associated with attracting outside dollars, and that is certainly important.  But some of the best tourism investments are the ones that also create opportunities for the people who call a community home.  The Levitt AMP series is a great example, and we are excited to see another season get underway.

Preserving Lawrence County’s story

Production wrapped on our 50-minute historical documentary showcasing Lawrence County.  The project included interviews with John Paul White, David Weathers, Billy Blackwood, Jon Kelly, historians, business owners, and local residents.  From David Crockett’s early political career to southern gospel music, athletics, World War II history, and the people who shaped our community, this documentary will help preserve and share Lawrence County’s story in a powerful way.  We are looking forward to the premiere at the Crockett Theatre.

Bottom line

May was a full month, but in the best way.  Businesses opened and expanded, community organizations welcomed the public, leaders advocated for local priorities, and tourism activity started picking up across the county.

That is a good place to be heading into summer.

Thank you for supporting the businesses, organizations, leaders, and partnerships that continue moving Lawrence County forward.
