January has come and gone, and with it, for many of us, at least a few New Year’s resolutions. One commitment I intend to keep is simple: providing a clear, monthly business update for Lawrence County.
Our community moves fast. New businesses open their doors, existing employers expand, and important connections are made among business leaders on a regular basis. This column is meant to keep you informed, recognize the people investing locally, and make it easier for all of us to stay connected to what’s happening in our economy.
New business activity
In December and January, 57 new businesses were started in Lawrence County. These businesses include new contractors and home builders, lawn care and landscaping companies, cosmetologists, carpenters, car lots, and everything in between. That kind of activity is encouraging and reflects confidence in our business environment. After all, small business activity sustains our pioneer spirit; the spirit of entrepreneurship that builds something special and adds value to our families, friends, and our community at large.
If you are starting or growing a business, the Chamber team is here to help you connect to resources and relationships that can accelerate progress.
Welcoming our newest Chamber members
Businesses join the Chamber for a variety of reasons. For some, it’s about engaging other business leaders and enhancing brand recognition. For others, it’s about supporting efforts to create jobs and welcome more visitors to our community. My experience is that all our members understand doing business in Lawrence County is a blessing, and joining the Chamber is one meaningful way to give back.
I’m pleased to highlight the Chamber members that joined in December and January—and I encourage you to support them:
