Lawrence County Median Household Income Reaches Record High, Posts Fastest Five-Year Growth on Record

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. — Median household income in Lawrence County has reached the highest level ever recorded, continuing a period of significant income growth for local residents.

According to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau, published through the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Lawrence County’s estimated median household income reached $61,295 in 2024, up from $55,845 in 2023.

The latest figure represents a 9.8% increase in a single year and a new all-time high for Lawrence County.

Even more significant is the county’s longer-term trajectory. Median household income has increased from $43,448 in 2019 to $61,295 in 2024, a gain of $17,847, or 41.1%, in five years. Based on the historical Census data series, that represents the fastest five-year rate of household income growth recorded for Lawrence County.

“This is an important measure of the progress taking place across Lawrence County,” said Ryan Egly, President & CEO of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. “Economic development is ultimately about creating greater opportunity for the people who live here. Seeing household incomes reach an all-time high—and grow at the fastest five-year pace we have seen in the data—is strong evidence that our economy is moving in the right direction.”

Median household income represents the midpoint of household earnings, meaning half of households earn more and half earn less. It is an important indicator of a community’s economic well-being because it helps show whether household purchasing power and overall financial conditions are improving over time.

Since 2020 alone, median household income has risen by nearly $14,000, from $47,353 to $61,295.

The growth comes during a period of continued industrial investment, business expansion, and job creation throughout Lawrence County. The Chamber and its economic development partners have worked to recruit new investment while supporting the expansion of existing employers and increasing the quality of employment opportunities available locally.

“Growth in capital investment and job creation matters, but the most meaningful results are the ones that ultimately show up in the lives of Lawrence County families,” Egly added. “There is more work ahead, but this is a milestone worth celebrating.”
