The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the 2024 Christmas Parade, “Christmas Through the Decades,” presented by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. The parade will take place on Saturday, December 7 at 5 PM in downtown Lawrenceburg.
Participants are encouraged to theme their floats and decorations around celebrating Christmas throughout the years! Think about how Christmas has been celebrated in different decades, from the 1920s to the present day. Use decorations that highlight the unique styles, popular trends, and significant events of each era. Here are some ideas:
- 1920s: Art Deco decorations, flapper-inspired costumes, and jazz music.
- 1930s: Great Depression-era themes, vintage Christmas lights, and homemade ornaments.
- 1940s: WWII influences, patriotic colors, and Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas.”
- 1950s: Rock ‘n’ roll, poodle skirts, and classic silver tinsel Christmas trees.
- 1960s: Hippie culture, psychedelic colors, and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
- 1970s: Disco balls, bell-bottoms, and retro holiday music.
- 1980s: Bright neon colors, big hair, and classic holiday movies like “Home Alone.”
- 1990s: Grunge, early internet-inspired themes, and popular Christmas toys like Tickle Me Elmo.
- 2000s and beyond: Modern decorations, tech-inspired themes, and recent holiday hits.
Applications for parade participation are currently being accepted. More information and application forms can be found here. A non-refundable entry fee of $45 must be received by November 20th for business and advertising vehicles to avoid a $25 late fee. Car clubs and individual vehicle entries are $10. Applications will not be accepted after November 27th.
The parade’s success hinges on the community’s participation, and we encourage all of our locals to register their float entries today! All parade entries, except horse riders, must pre-register and be decorated with Christmas decorations. Floats will be judged based on the use of the 2024 theme, neatness, and the use of lights. The three winning categories are: Best of Show ($150 prize), Second Place ($100 prize), and Third Place ($75 prize).
We are proud to announce that Loretto Telecom will be the Presenting Sponsor again this year. A special thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg who helps make our Christmas Parade a success!
