LAWRENCEBURG, TENN—When Lawrence County gathers in Lawrenceburg for the Chamber’s 68th Annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 2nd, a familiar face will be leading the way as Kade Shultz serves as Grand Marshal.
“I am very humbled and blessed to be asked to serve as this year’s Grand Marshal,” stated Shultz. “God has opened another opportunity for me to share God’s goodness. “For His Glory.””
Kade, an outstanding student athlete and leader, was seriously injured in an automobile accident last Thanksgiving. Lawrence Countians rallied around the Shultz family as they began a difficult journey that ultimately inspired thousands of mid-state residents. He has dedicated a significant amount of time speaking at regional events and in classrooms throughout the county, becoming a local hero to many students.
“Being the Grand Marshal is a great honor reserved for those citizens who have demonstrated the spirit of Lawrence County through their accomplishments or acts of service,” explained Lawrence County Chamber President, Ryan Egly. “Kade has used this personal tragedy to remind us of the power of faith and family. His story is a story of great perseverance and a testament to the strength of our community.”
Since graduating high school, Kade has begun studying the Educational and Business Pathway at Columbia State Community College. He enjoys fellowshipping with family and spending time with friends that have supported him throughout this journey. His recovery continues with at least 2 more major surgeries ahead.
Today, he is preparing for his left knee reconstruction surgery on Tuesday, November 28th. Kade continues therapy on his lower extremities weekly. The popliteal artery bypasses in both legs have maintained blood flow and he and his family are thankful to God for that.
Sponsored by Loretto Telecom, the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce’s 68th Annual Christmas Parade will start at 5:00 pm on December 2nd, 2023. The theme of the parade is “Joy to the World” and thousands will line the streets of Lawrenceburg to watch the marching bands, floats, and Santa Claus parade into town.
